Returning to work after an injury
Returning to work after an injury can be difficult, but Employability Service can support you every step of the way. We can help you find suitable work, arrange any supports you may need, and work with you and your employer to make the transition back to work easier and more comfortable.
You may still receive part of your Disability Allowance or Partial Capacity Benefit while working, depending on your earnings. Your assigned Job Coach can guide you through how this works.
Employability Service is a free, nationwide employment support service in Ireland for people with disabilities, injuries, illnesses, or mental health difficulties. The service works with both jobseekers and employers to help people gain and maintain employment in the open labour market.
We can support you at every stage of your employment journey. This includes career guidance, CV preparation, interview coaching, job matching, workplace advocacy, and on-the-job support after you begin employment to help ensure long-term success.
You may be eligible if you have a disability, injury, illness, or mental health difficulty that affects your ability to find or keep a job. The service is open to people who are job-ready and motivated to work, and you can be referred through your local Intreo Office.
Employers may qualify for several government supports, including the Wage Subsidy Scheme, Workplace Needs Assessments, Work Equipment funding, and Workplace Adaptation Grants. These supports help employers create more accessible workplaces and encourage inclusive hiring practices.
Employers can work directly with Employability Service to recruit suitable candidates and receive advice on inclusive recruitment, workplace accommodations, and available grants. The service also provides ongoing support to help both the employer and employee settle successfully into the role.
